Help

I was just reading a daily devotional on my email (from Purpose Driven Life) and its saying that its not about being a good Christian.

Indeed, it's realizing that you are in desperate need to be saved. You are drowning in the world's ways. You need to be filled with God's ways. But you need to realize that you need to be saved before you can do anything else. God already loves you and wants to help you and wants to be in your heart, but you have to WANT him there in the first place. Its like being in addiction (alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc etc), you have to realize you have a problem before anyone can help you. If you dont think you have a problem then nobody can help you because you are in denial. Well its the same as Christianity. If you are addicted to the world's ways (which are contrary to God's ways) you have to realize you are in need of help. You need to ASK God to help you by asking him in your heart. If you dont, then God will still be on the other side of the door to your heart knocking. God WANTS in. He WANTS to help make things better. You just have to WANT him to help you, and after you ask him in your heart, you have to BELIEVE that he will make things better.

James 1:6-8 says: "But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does."

So when you pray and ask him in your heart, you have to believe that he is going to make your life SO MUCH better! He's the best thing that happened to me thats for sure! Without God, i honestly dont know what i would have done. I have a lot going on right now, and i think that if i didnt have God in my life that i prolly would have killed myself by now. Honestly. But thank God i didnt. I literally thank God every day for coming into my life and saving me because I would have been gone. And God's response to me is thank you for wanting me in your life! Now if u do ask God in your life, please please dont expect to not face trials.

James 1: 2-4 says: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

So when you face trials and you have faith that everything will work out and you get through that trial, it will develop perserverance in you so that when you face another trial you can face it and get through it again without doubting!

Read the book of James! Its such a helpful book! For new believers i would recomend to read John first and then James! :)
