song

and guess what song just came on the radio.... "In the Blink of an Eye" haha

Purpose Driven Life chapter 4

Chapter 4: Made to Last Forever

Something to remember:
This life is preperation for the next.

Verse to remember: "When this tent we live in - our body here on earth- is torn down, God will have a house in heaevn for us to live in, a home he himself has made, which will last forever." 2 Corinthians 5:1

"[God's] plans endure forever; his purposes last eternally." Psalm 33:11

The statement(s) that was the most impactful: When you can fully comprehend that there is more to life than just the present, and you realize that life is just preperation for eternity, you will begin to live differently.

The closer you live to God, the smaller everything else appears.

Other thoughts: We will not lie on clouds with halos and play the harps all day long. We will enjoy limitless fellowship with God, and he will enjoy us forever.

If we have a relationship with God through Jesus, we dont need to fear death. It is the door to eternity. Yes, it will be the last of us on earth, but not in eternity. Dying won't be the end of our lives, it will be our "birthday into eternity"

"Measured against eternity, our time on earth is just a blink of an eye, but the consequences of it will last forever." I like that, it reminds me of the song by MercyMe which says "In the blink of an eye, that is where I'll be closer to you than I'll ever be, time will fly and until then, I'll embrace every moment im given. The reason I'm alive, for the blink of an eye"

We are alive today, because we have a purpose. We are living for that blink of the eye.

Our life may seem long but in the eyes of eternity it is only a blink.

Purpose Driven Life part 3

Chapter 3: What drives your life?

Something to remember: The five benefits of living a purpose driven life are:
1.Knowing your purpose gives meaning to your life.
2.Knowing your purpose simplifies your life.
3.Knowing your purpose focuses your life.
4.Knowing your purpose motivates your life.
5.Knowing your purpose prepares you for eternity.

Nothing matters more than knowing God's purposes for your life, and nothing can compensate for not knowing them.

You weren't put on earth to be remembered. You were put here to prepare for eternity.

Verse to remember: "Dont live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants." Ephesians 5:17

"I know what i am planning for you 'I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you a hope and a good future'" Jeremiah 29:11

The statement(s) that was the most impactful: "If you want your life to have impact, focus it" It reminds me of what my best friend said in a bible study once (see...this was said a while ago and we are still using it.) "We tend to move towards what we focus on" So if we focus on our lives having impact, it will happen!

"You weren't put on earth to be remembered. You were put here to prepare for eternity"

That is chapter 3. I will try my best to keep this updated, but since I am at work for the next 2 days, I know for sure that up to chapter 5 will get done.

40 days of purpose Chapters 1 and 2

I am at work right now (lunch time) and so i am reading the 40 days of purpose book for church. I am horrible at keeping up to date with my blogging, so here is what i learned from chapters 1 and 2

Chapter 1: It all starts with God

Something to remember: Its not all about you. You cannot find your purpose inside yourself. You need to look to God to find out what your purpose is.

Verse to remember: Job 12:10-- "It is God who directs the lives of his creatures; everyone's life is in his power"

The statement(s) that was the most impactful:
"Focusing on ourselves will never reveal life's purpose"

"You were made by God and for God and until you understand that, life will never make sense"

Chapter 2: You are not an accident

Something to remember: I am alive because God WANTED to create me!

Verse(s) to remember: "God deceided to give us life though the word of truth so we might be the most important of all things made" James1:18

"I have carried you since you were born; I have taken care of you from your birth. Even when you are old, I will be the same. Even when your hair has turned gray, I will take care of you. I made you and I will take care of you" Isaiah 46:3-4

The statement(s) that was the most impactful: "Long before you were conceived by ur parents, you were conceived in the mind of God"

I love the poem at the end of this chapter too:

You are who you are for a reason by Russell Kelfer

You are who you are for a reason.
You're part of an intricate plan.
You're a precious and perfect unique design,
Called God's special woman or man.

You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb.
You're just what He wanted to make.

The parents you had were the ones He chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
And they bear the Master's seal.

No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept that it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into His likeness you'd grow.

You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!

AMEN!

God's Faithful

"Your love, oh Lord, reaches to the heavens. Your faithfulness stretches to the sky. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains. Your justice flows like the ocean's tide. I will lift my voice, to worship You, my King. I will find my strength in the shadow of your wings"

This is a short blog cuz I am writing on the fly, I have to go to work....

This song just came on the radio and I just started to sing it. I love that song. Its such a classic but I love it so much. God is truly faithful! Even when we think He is not there, or when we think it is hopeless that our lives will get better, He is there.

Now I gotta go to work, I get to see my babies :D

Blessings to you all who read this!

Fear

As you guys have read in a previous blog on Monday September 12, 2005 I had an encounter with a dog. I have been terrified to walk home ever since. On tuesday night my mom had told me that she could drive me home from Refuge, then I phone her and ask where she was (she was late) and she informs me that my brother had to go into work so she can't pick me up. I was very upset because I am frightened! I FEAR walking down my street now because of chances of that dog being there. I am so afraid of walking down that block that I take a route that takes soo much longer to get home just so i dont have to pass that street where the dog was. So anyways, my good friend Karyn offered me a ride home. I felt super bad cuz I had asked her for a ride earlier in the week and she said it was out of the way, but then this happens and I am scared to walk there. And so she drove me home, she also told me (a couple days before refuge) to look up verses on fear. So i did and they are at the end of this blog.

Sooooooo I dont really have much else to say. I need to get ready to go out. Im going out to a movie with a few of my friends!

Blessings!!

1 Peter 3:14~"But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear ; do not be frightened."
Isaiah 41:10~"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:13~"For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Psalm 3:6~"I will not fear the tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side.

Psalm 91~"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."
Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the LORD, who is my refuge- then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

Galatians 6:10
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Ephesians 4:29-32
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Years spent doing various activities

This is the number of years in an average life (70) that people spend:

Sleep- 24 years
Work- 7.33 years
Formal Education- 4.33
Eating- 2.33
Misc. (household chores, cooking, personal hygiene, commuting)- 5
Free time- 27

This is what i learned tonight in class. but i know what you all are thinking. "I wonder whos life is this? I wish i had that much free time. I wish i could sleep that long." My classmates and i were so suprised at the years we spend working. It seems like so much more. although this study was done in 1982 so things have changed a bit. but ya. and formal education, you figure going to school for 13 years spending 6 hours a day on average at school.... that doesnt seem right, and i dont want to do the math. LOL... but ya. its so ironic how this study says that we have so much free time, when really sometimes it doesnt seem that way, with work, school, the hustle and bustle of life, you dont really think that we have THAT much free time. Im just rambling, i just wanted to give those facts. that wasnt really God related, sorry. i will think of something tomorrow.

see ya'll later!

P.S I get to go to REFUGE on the 20th! WOOOOOOOOO

God's Timing

Hey y'all, sorry it has been a while since i blogged. Havent been very motivated to until today.

Angel and I went over to Crystals house today for a visit. She was in the hospital for 5 days. I cant remember what virus she had but it was almost menengitis. YIKES. anyways. She gave us directions to get to her house. We left my house to walk to catch the 112, JUST as we get there (well like 1 foot away) there was the bus pulling up. so we ddnt have to wait. then we get there we waited like 1 minute for the skytrain. We get to the skytrain and we waited like maybe 3 minutes for the UBC bus downtown. then we get off at Angels school cuz she was picking up some hair stuff cuz she was gonna cut my hair (she did, it looks awesome) so we were like ok well Crystal used to walk home from the school so it shouldnt be too far. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA our mistake! It took us like 40 minutes to get to her house. It was a nice walk. We had a nice talk. we stopped at 711 for some food, we were hungry lol. we finally get to her house and we watch a movie and then she gives me pennies for my penny drive. Im doing the CIBC Run for the Cure so she was donating pennies, im trying to raise money the hard way, its not working so well so i am doing the penny drive and more if people can donate more. So we left her house and went for the bus, the bus was right across the street. so we get to the bus stop and the bus is RIGHT THERE! then we get to broadway station and i needed to cash the pennies at the cash thing in safeway. So we stopped there, there was a homeless man there on the street and i felt really bad, i didnt want to give him money but i wanted to give him something to eat but i didnt have anything. and i get to safeway and i realize i had 2 pop in my bag. so i was going to give the pop to him after i left the store, but he wasnt there when we came out of the store :( so i buy a newspaper to find out about Burns bog..its RIGHT by my aunts house. She lives near there, if it jumps the highway then they have to evacuate. but ya. we get home and dinner is like 5 minutes away from being done, so i showed Angel a video of me singing that i made on my webcam.... then she cut my hair.

that was a long story and is taking forever to get to the point, but heres the point. God's timing is great! not always what we want ,but God's timing is the right timing. It was so cool how we made it just in time for all those busses. it was cool.

Another story, not really related to God's timing, but yesterday i was coming home from a great night of worshipping God at evening church service and a lady stops me, i take off my ear phones and she tells me there is a dog down my block and to watch out cuz the dog jumped on her. Ok now i was TOTALLY freaked out. I was praying that the dog would not hurt me. I kinda had little faith at that time because if i knew God was protecting me that i could wlak down the street and not worry, but i had a bad memory when i was little (4), i got trapped in a car by a rottweiler. but i stayed calm in this situation last night. I did not run cuz the dog would run after me if i ran, i knew that so i didnt run, i was calm, i backed up and walked down 18th instead so i was praying asking God to keep the dog away from the place where i was going. I was terrified that the dog would be where i was when i got to my house. he wasnt. but i still cried i was so upset. but i was uninjured. God was looking after me! He in a way made sure that i walked down 18th instead of continuing down my street. Thank you Lord for holding my hand as i walked home last night!

Well there ya go, I blogged. its been a while since i wrote a blog... like a week since i wrote something God related. but again, if any of you (that know me) have any spare money can u please donate it to me for the CIBC run for the cure. My goal is 300! to people who have donated. Thanks SO much!

Oh and if u are wondering who i am running for. i am running for Janice Waller, a great teacher that used to teach at Cariboo. she died of breast cancer. It will be 6 months as of September 17th. rip! I love you!

Bring Yourself as an offering to God

Tonight was fun. I went to night service at CHT tonight. It was cool. After Jamie had finished his preach Cory and Fiona started to sing worship again. I cant remember what the song was called. But a few lines were "what can i give, what can i bring, what can i bring as an offering, Lord?" If any of you rememeber what the song is called please comment I cant remember. Anyways, I was singing that to God and I was actually asking him what I can bring to him as an offering. All he said was "yourself." That was cool, but at first i didnt really understand, but then i kept praying and he said that all i need to do is bring myself. Offer myself as an offering to him. now just as im typing this, God sent me a scripture :

Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Its so cool how, when your worshipping God and chatting with him, he will actually talk to you. I was just sitting there tlaking to him and asking what can i bring as an offering and what popped in my head was "yourself" i know that was from God, cuz when i started asking 'what about myself" and stuff just kept coming in. songs and stuff... like the song that says what this verse says.

soo cool. I just wanted to let you know that. I dont realy have much more to say. I might read it tomorrow and edit a lil..... so ya... night

Hot and Cold

Ok heres a question, why is it when its really sunny people complain cuz of the heat, but yet they complain if its too cold (raining) can they not just be happy with what is presented to them? Cant they be happy with what they have? Its like material things as well, its not "the kid who dies with the most toys wins" it should be "the kid who gives his life to Christ wins" And why set your minds on what you are going to get or what you are wanting?

Colossians 3:1-2 says: "If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." (kjv)

I love what the message says :

"So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ--that's where the action is. See things from his perspective."

Basically if you say you are a christian and you gave your life to Christ then you have to see things like he sees it. Dont set your minds on things that will only be gone in no time.

Matthew 6: 19-24 says: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

I am sorry this is such a short blog, i am on a tight schedule im going to Douglas soon for an orientation thing. wee.....

2nd Corinthians 4:18 says: "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

So fix your eyes on God, not on earth because everything on earth will die but the word of the Lord stands firm forever!!

1st Peter 1:24-25 says: For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever. And this is the word that was preached to you."

Blessings!

Revelations 21: 1-4 ~"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
